Coming in 2011, the front-wheel drive, four-seater, extended-range electric vehicle, Opel Ampera ($TBA) features an eco-friendly propulsion system that emits zero CO2. In the core of this plug-in hybrid is a full-time electric motor with a 37 mile range and a small gasoline engine/generator for charging the 16kWh lithium-ion batteries, giving a total range of over 300 miles before refueling. The Ampera features four-wheel disc breaks, front McPherson struts, rear crank twist axle, full regenerative brakes and electric power-assist steering. [source]
