Contrary to popular belief, the boombox isn’t dead. Many companies are still rolling out their version of the old-school ghettoblaster. But JVC’s Kaboom ($260) took the redesign a step further. The bazooka-shaped Kaboom features an iPhone and iPod Touch dock with a protective door, along with a CD player, a USB Host for playback of music files on USB flash drives or mass storage devices, and of course, a FM Tuner. It boasts 40 watts of power and a bass-pumpin’ woofer at each end, a guitar/mic input to turn the Kaboom into an amp, and an included remote.
