I just witnessed the most WILD concept car that’s breaking the internet! The Jaguar Type 00 dropped at Miami Art Week last December, and it’s literally the most controversial thing on wheels right now. This electric beast marks a total reinvention for the British luxury brand, and trust me, it looks NOTHING like your dad’s old Jag!
Bye-Bye Curves, Hello Angles!
First impression? This thing looks like it drove straight out of Minecraft! Jaguar ditched its signature flowing curves and sexy lines for something that screams, “I was designed with a ruler.” The Type 00 features a super-aggressive front end with a blunt, upright face, rectangular grille, and minimalist LED headlights that form a single line. It gives major robot vibes, and I’m honestly still processing how I feel about it!
The concept comes in three absolutely fire colors. “Miami Pink” (officially Satin Rhodon Rose) pays tribute to Miami’s Art Deco architecture. “London Blue” (Inception Silver Blue) honors Jaguar’s British roots and draws inspo from the 1960s E-type. And when the car made its Paris debut, it rocked a custom “French Ultramarine” finish with this satin-like surface that looks SO luxe in person.
But the most jaw-dropping features? Those butterfly doors that open upward dramatically and a pantograph tailgate that rises like something from a sci-fi movie. And get this—there’s NO rear window! The fenders just curve back to meet a large rectangular panel. Talk about commitment to the bit!
Interior That’s Giving Rich Home Vibes
Step inside (through those butterfly doors, of course), and you’ll find an interior that feels more like a luxury apartment than a car. The cabin features three brass bars running the entire length—one along each door and a 10.5-foot spine down the middle. Jaguar left these brass elements untreated, so they’ll naturally oxidize and change appearance over time. That’s some next-level dedication to the aesthetic!

Between the seats sits actual travertine stone, described as a “plinth” supporting the seating positions. And instead of the leather you’d expect in a luxury car, the seats rock a wool textile blend. It’s giving sustainable luxury in the best way possible.
The dashboard continues the exterior’s line motif, and there are two large screens that rise up on either side of the central spine. But here’s the cool part—Jaguar designed these screens to be hidden for a “digital detox,” leaving just a thin display at the base of the windshield for essential info. We love a car that respects our screen time boundaries!
The Weirdest Feature Ever?
The most bizarre (and kinda awesome?) interior feature has to be the “totem” system. Instead of boring old drive modes, three totems—made of brass, travertine, and alabaster—are stored in an exterior compartment called the “Prism case.” When you place one into a slot next to the central spine, it changes ambient lighting, screen graphics, soundscapes, and even releases different scents! Jaguar hinted that future customers might get bespoke totems tailored just for them. Rich people things, am I right?
It’s Alive! Type 00 Hits Paris Streets
In March, the Type 00 made a surprise appearance cruising the streets of Paris during Fashion Week, proving this isn’t just some static showpiece. Irish actor Barry Keoghan stepped out of the passenger seat as those butterfly doors lifted dramatically outside a Paris Fashion Week venue. The whole moment was pure theater, and it definitely got people talking!
This Paris debut was totally strategic—Jaguar has a new brand store in the Golden Triangle of the 8th arrondissement, right in the heart of luxury fashion. The message? Jaguar isn’t just a car company anymore; it’s a luxury lifestyle brand competing for the attention of the fashion crowd.
What This Means for Real Jaguars
While we won’t see the Type 00 in showrooms, Jaguar confirmed their first reimagined production car will be an electric four-door GT dropping in late 2025. It’ll incorporate many of the design elements we see in the Type 00, just toned down for actual production.
The specs sound pretty impressive—Jaguar’s targeting a WLTP range of around 478 miles and the ability to charge 200 miles in just 15 minutes. That would smoke the Tesla Model S (405 miles) and Porsche Taycan (301 miles), and even edge out the Mercedes EQS (453 miles).
But prepare your wallets because this new era of Jaguars won’t come cheap. The production model is expected to start around £100,000 (approximately $130,000), putting it firmly in the high-end luxury segment. Jaguar’s basically saying “we’re not trying to sell to everyone anymore”—they want fewer sales at higher profits, focusing on exclusivity rather than volume.
Love It or Hate It?
The Type 00 has definitely sparked MAJOR debate among car enthusiasts. Some people are calling it revolutionary and bold, while others think it looks like a rejected prop from a low-budget sci-fi movie. But maybe that’s exactly what Jaguar wanted? The brand has been flying under the radar for years, and this concept has generated more buzz for Jaguar than anything they’ve done in decades.
By breaking completely from their traditional design language, Jaguar’s making a statement that they’re not just evolving—they’re completely reinventing themselves for the electric era. They’re targeting younger, wealthier, and more style-focused buyers who value distinctive design and exclusivity over traditional automotive priorities.
Whether you think the Type 00 is gorgeous or hideous (no judgment either way!), You have to admit it’s doing exactly what concept cars should do—getting people talking and pushing boundaries. As Jaguar transforms into an all-electric luxury brand by the end of 2025, the Type 00 gives us a bold preview of what’s to come.
Will this radical reinvention save Jaguar and make it relevant again? Or is this a desperate last attempt to stand out in an increasingly crowded luxury EV market? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—boring is the one thing the Type 00 definitely isn’t!
